Can I say how much I love this little fella? He warms my heart. Sorry I’ve been off work for so long but I’m starting up again slowly and booking some Maternity sessions – perhaps a couple in the next month. It’s not easy to have a baby and get anything done around here but once my husband is back in good health (he sprained his knee slipping on the ice), I will be able to work a little more! Thanks for being patient with me! And kudos to all you mommies and daddies out there, I now understand you so much more!

Gimme lots of presents and pumpkin pie!

MATERNITY LEAVE: Vivian Doan is on Maternity Leave until sometime mid-autumn to give birth to her first child. She will be taking a limited number of sessions in the Fall so be sure to book early to reserve your spot. Thank-you!

Maternity Leave is coming up soon

As many of you know, I am expecting my first baby – my miracle baby – mid-July and so I will be wrapping up my Spring sessions very shortly. I most likely wont be shooting after mid-June. I hope that I wont be letting too many of you down as I prepare for my upcoming role as a mother. I will be taking about 3-4 months off and will be accepting a very limited number of sessions in the Fall as I try to juggle motherhood and working.

If you would like me to still take your family photos this Fall, please be in touch to reserve your spot as I will not be taking as many sessions as I used to. I wish you all a lovely summer!! Big hugs to everyone and keep smiling!

Photo of the Day – my Husband’s new album

Last week I went out with my husband to shoot his album artwork for a new solo acoustic album he will be releasing in April at the Casa de Popolo. I had this idea of using the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard and Duluth, but the funny thing is that I was aiming at capturing the friperie on the corner including the street lamp and the image was just not really happening the way I had pictured it. Then I looked up Duluth, from the street corner where I was standing and I saw the slick of the pavement with the hint of Mont Royal in the back and the sunlight kind of streaking in from behind and I immediately changed the concept. No more traffic light, just the crossing and on the last shot of Matt crossing the street about 20 times, we got the shot! I already knew in my head at that point that I was shooting for a Bob Dylan style cover and I knew I wanted it in Black and White. It goes to show how an initial idea is not always the one you will end up with in the end, I’m so glad that it metamorphosed into this, which is infinitely better. I love what I do!

I’m so happy to announce that I’m having a baby this summer! I’ve kept it under wraps but we just had our second ultrasound so now I will be joining that Mommy club like almost all of my clients. This means that I will be taking a break from my photography for a few months this summer and possibly into the fall season so if you would like to book for that period, please contact me to see what we can work out! It has taken us a long time to get to this point so this baby is a true miracle.

Just sharing a photo of one of my favourite meals, shrimp dumplings! Okay, to be honest, I ate more more than three dumplings today but I really wanted a nice little photo of them so I placed a few of them into my favourite bowl. If I were a food stylist, I would’ve picked three perfect dumplings instead of two okay ones and a mangy third one but I’m not and I was hungry! Yummy is all I can say.

I’m just working on finishing up a wedding shoot and all the post-production from Jan-Feb sessions! Two more sessions this week-end, there is a baby boom going on I tell ya. I want so desperately to update this blog with recent shoots from this winter and last fall but finding the time… where does it all go? Oh yeah, work.

At least I’m in love with my work. Something that I will never take for granted ever again.

A punch of colour – winter is half-over!

My husband bought me a bouquet last week – this is just a detail from that colourful gift he got me me! Just think, in about 2 months we will be seeing these kind of colours again outside! Happy mid-winter everyone.
